It's finally time to really celebrate!
After a long process of securing the property, and lots of hard work by Pima County and YMCA of Metropolitan Tucson officials, ground was finally broken for the construction of a new northwest community YMCA & aquatic center.

The joint Pima County and YMCA project is located on 35-acres at corner of Shannon and Magee Roads. Pima Community College is also building a new northwest campus on land adjacent to the complex.

"The Y is building a modern state-of-the-art, family-oriented recreational facility and aquatic center providing programs that develop the total person in body, mind and spirit," says Dane Woll, senior vice president of the YMCA of Metropolitan Tucson.

"The new YMCA has 32,000 square feet with a gym, men's and women's locker rooms, aerobics studio and cardio/wellness center," said Bill Markell, executive director of the new YMCA. "The aquatic center is comprehensive with both a lap pool and a pool featuring zero depth elements and water slide."

Volunteer Opportunities
YMCA volunteers continue to be the backbone of the YMCA organization, with numerous opportunities to become involved. Through the Board of Management, volunteer committees, referees, and coaches, individuals are able to share their time and talents to make possible our YMCA programs and services.
