Casino del Sol
On July 4, 2003 Tucson's Pascua Yaqui tribe opened what is the largest casino in the state of Arizona, Casino Del Sol near Interstate 19 and Valencia Road. Casino Del Sol is a complete entertainment complex open 24 hours. Indian gaming in and around Tucson is expanding fast.
The second of two casinos owned by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, Casino Del Sol is the most unique gaming complex in Arizona with remarkable architecture fashioned after a Mediterranean resort. Designed by Leo A Daly and built by Kitchell Contractors, Casino Del Sol is setting a new standard of excellence in gaming and entertainment in the State.
Casino Del Sol lays claim to the largest gaming floor in Arizona. With seven distinctly themed restaurants, three bars, nearly 1,000 state-of-the-art slot machines, 34 Vegas-style blackjack tables, 13 poker tables and a bingo hall seating more than 600 players, there is something for anyone seeking a great entertainment experience.
Casino Del Sol also features the Anselmo Valencia Tori (AVA) amphitheater; a 4,600-seat, open-air concert venue that has hosted such acts as Alan Jackson, Sheryl Crow, Luis Miguel and James Taylor. It is Southern Arizona's largest privately owned concert venue, with six corporate boxes, 1,700 theater seats and 2,900 festival-style lawn seats. The AVA concert season runs April through October each year.
The restaurants at Casino Del Sol range from quick-casual food to world-class full service dining. They include Bellissimo Ristorante, a full-service Tuscan-style restaurant; The Tequila Factory, a traditional Mexican village-style restaurant; Slice, an Italian pizzeria offering players the freshest pizza ingredients on hand-tossed dough; Moby's, a 1960s beach-themed diner; Abuelitas Taqueria, a patio-style taco shop giving players a wide variety of authentic Mexican fare; The Clubhouse, a turn of the century gym-themed sports bar; and the Bingo Deli a walk-up deli counter exclusively for the casinos bingo customers.
Casino Del Sol also has two full-service bar areas. The first one called Zebo'z is situated in the center of the main gaming floor and modeled after a garden gazebo. Casino guests are offered a wide selection of specialty drinks and a large variety of premium libations. La Botellita is the casinos luxurious lounge located on the smaller gaming floor.
Casino Del Sol is located at 5655 West Valencia road, just 15 minutes from downtown Tucson. I-19 Exit Valencia West.

Desert Diamond Casino
The tribe of the Tohono O'odham Nation is also mixing entertainment options into its gaming facilities, operating two casinos near Tucson, both named Desert Diamond Casino. The first Desert Diamond is on Old Nogales Highway one mile south of Valencia Road. The other is off I-19, both a few minutes south of Tucson.
The Old Nogales Highway location at 7350 South Old Nogales Highway, has a 28,000-square-foot facility used for bingo and card games, and a 24,000-square-foot casino that houses 500 slots. And the new Interstate-19 Desert Diamond facility at 1100 West Pima Mine Road, is a 185,000-square-foot complex that houses 500 slots, one fine-dining restaurant, a retail shop and an entertainment facility that serves as a 1,200-seat bingo hall and can be converted into a 2,400-seat concert venue. Enjoy many of America's favorite performers. Their magnificent Diamond Center has been designed to make every one of the 2,400 seats, the best in the house.
The new Desert Diamond Casino is located off Interstate 19 . There are more than 500 slot machines, slot club, video poker, live keno, and poker room. As well as a bingo hall that seats 2,000 that's also used for concerts.
Signs of civilization are scarce driving along South Nogalas Highway from Tucson toward Sahuarita. For the most part, it's desert, desert, desert. But just east of Interstate 19 on Pima Mine Road, the new Desert Diamond Casino springs up out of the dust and cacti like an oasis. A glittering, jingling oasis.
Perhaps you've already peeked inside the $52 million enterprise to pique your interest. What you probably haven't done, though, is counted the slot machines or spaces in the parking lot. Here, then, is the Tohono O'odham Nation's new casino, by the numbers:
4: Number of different flags greeting visitors at the drive-in entrance to the casino. They represent Arizona, Mexico, the United States and the Tohono O'odham Nation.
55: Number of acres covered by the casino and adjacent parking area, which makes for a lot of walking if you hike it from tip to tail.
2,500: Number of cars the casino's parking lot can accommodate. Save yourself some post-gambling frustration by making a mental note of where you parked your car. You'll be glad later.
500: Number of glittering slot machines, which range from 2 cent to $5 slots. Some slots accept $100 bills.
$2.95: Cost, pre-tax, for a slice of pepperoni pizza - the consummate gaming food - available at the casino's snack shop.
$14.95: Cost, for a filet mignon dinner at the casino's Agave Restaurant, in case you have a lucky night.
2: Number of large-screen televisions - usually set on a sports channel - in the keno lounge.
2,000: Seating capacity of the casino's bingo hall, which converts into a concert hall for special events.
100-plus: Number of security officers keeping an eye on the comings and goings of patrons.
12: Number of brown metal benches in the casino's inner courtyard. Here you can sit and stew or jump and celebrate - depending on your encounters with Lady Luck.
The Desert Diamond Casinos offer customers a well-rounded entertainment opportunity, not just gaming.
