This Robert Trent Jones-designed, par-72 championship course has bent-grass greens and Bermuda grass on tees and fairways, and is overseeded in the winter. Trees on the front nine include pine, willow, and poplar. The back nine consists of natural desert vegetation. Rio Rico lulls you to sleep in the first four holes and slowly becomes one of the most challenging and beautiful courses you'll ever play. The front nine is located on a river flood plane and after the turn you tour the rolling hills. Just 50 minutes south of Tucson, it provides a perfect day trip whereby you can visit two remarkable examples of mission architecture: San Xavier Del Bac and Tumacacori. Both founded in the 1600's by Father Kino from where many of the expeditions began that founded California cities such as San Francisco. After an afternoon round of golf, you can drive just 10 miles to the US/Mexico border, park on the US-side and walk a short distance to eat dinner at one of the finest Mexican restaurants - La Roca.
